Main Responsibilities:
- Legal Strategy: Develop and implement the company's legal strategy in line with its business objectives.
- Compliance: Ensure the company complies with all relevant laws and regulations, offering guidance on regulatory matters.
- Risk Management: Conduct ongoing legal risk assessments, identify potential issues, and advise on risk mitigation strategies.
- Litigation Management: Oversee legal disputes and litigation, coordinating with external legal counsel when necessary.
- Corporate Governance: Ensure compliance with corporate governance practices, including board operations and shareholder relations.
- Intellectual Property Protection: Manage and safeguard the organization’s intellectual property, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents.
- Compliance Programs: Develop and oversee compliance programs, including anti-corruption and ethics policies, ensuring all employees are trained on legal matters.
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage the legal team, providing direction, mentorship, and ensuring high performance.
- Budget Management: Manage the legal department’s budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources.
- Data Privacy: Ensure the organization adheres to data protection and privacy laws.
- Corporate Records: Maintain corporate records, ensuring all legal documentation is accurate and properly archived.
- Compliance Reporting: Oversee the preparation and submission of legal and regulatory reports to authorities.
Job Requirements:
- 5+ years of legal experience, preferably within a corporate environment, with 2+ years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of corporate law, compliance, intellectual property, and regulatory frameworks.
- JD or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution, and licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Proven ability to lead legal teams and work collaboratively with cross-functional departments.
- Ability to develop and implement legal strategies that align with business objectives.
- Experience in managing litigation and working with external counsel.
- Expertise in identifying and managing legal risks, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Strong understanding of compliance programs, including anti-corruption, ethics, and data privacy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interfacing with executives, boards, and external partners.
- Experience in managing departmental budgets and optimizing resource allocation.
- Advanced proficiency in English and Estonian is a must.
